Happy Nest governesses are highly educated individuals who offer tuition and academic mentorship to children as would a tutor.

We offer a unique governess nanny service that can provide your children with academic support, conveniently at home and can be employed as a senior nanny/governess, or alongside another nanny or a mothers help. Our governesses have many years of experience educating and caring for children. They each have a unique approach to learning and some have strengths in certain subjects from early years development through to secondary subjects (Key stage 3 and 4) such as sciences and mathematics.

Happy Nest governesses can support your family with as much or as little care as you require, some will happily live in and travel with the family if and when required.

Governess Duties

Happy Nest Nannies, including our specialist nannies, are accountable for all nursery duties. This includes laundry, cleaning and cooking but usually only for the children.

Your senior nanny or governess responsibilities are:

Supporting and mentoring your children by offering high-level care and tuition:

Acting as an excellent role model
Social developing and educating the children in the family home setting
Sole charge care or may work alongside a nanny or mothers help
Offer care to children of any age from Newborn through to 16 years
Follow school curriculum or offer a bespoke tuition package agreed with the parents
Bilingual and offer language studies if needed
Social etiquette and mentorship
Musical tuition as requested
Cultural and religious studies if required as agreed with the parents

Additional duties can be negotiated in the governess/nanny contract, however, Happy Nest nannies will not be expected to complete non-child related duties unless agreed in advance.

Salary Rates | Governess

Happy Nest only represents governesses with a minimum of five years of professional childcare experience. They are all over 21 years of age and have a valid and recent criminal background check (DBS Check). Governesses charge a rate dependant on the hours required and relevant to their experience and qualifications. Live-out governesses cost £13+ per hour.
