Full Time, Live In Nanny Housekeeper For Family of Four in Hertford
Happy Nest are seeking an engaging live in nanny with toddler experience to join a family in Hertford, providing shared and sole charge care of their four children.
Filled with a bubbly personality? Then you’re perfect for this role.
The ideal nanny will facilitate stimulating and engaging activities that are F-U-N for all. With a 19-month-old boy, 11-year-old girl, and two 13-year-old boys, you might have your hands full (or at least the car will be) but more than anything, you’ll not be short of something to do with these children!
Heads up (although you’ll probably know if you’re experienced in the world of toddlerhood), things move pretty fast in the eyes of a toddler! So you’ll need to be quick on your feet and fast-thinking. Most of all, you’ll need to be ready to adapt in an instant. In a typical morning session of creative play, you’ll plough through activities and leave the playroom looking like a tornado has just been through.
One minute you can be playing with cars. The next you’ll be building a tower from blocks, and after that you’ll probs be attempting to minimise the mixing of play-dough colours. Ahem, just us? We can’t be the only ones who likes the blue to remain in the blue tub no?! Don’t get too comfy there though, before you can pop the lid back on before those fast-drying play-dough crumbs leave permanent stains in the carpet, Mr Two will then have you re-reading the pages from his favourite book whilst he bounces around. Only to fast become distracted, ramming his cars into the epic tower you’ve just gone to great lengths to build.
FWIW – this experience with Mr Two, and his rather short attention span, will probably mean you’re a long way off being crowned Jenga master. But it will have you yelling “faster” as you race cars together, honing your knowledge of all things transport related.
OK, so that’s Mr Two covered. But let’s not forget about the older tribe!
As you interact with the older children (chatting to them about their day, helping with homework, and playing sports) you’ll find you develop a lovely relationship. This bond will keep you all in tune with each other, making it super enjoyable when you go on the occasional trip or special day out as a team.
As the live-in nanny housekeeper, you’ll be experienced with children of similar ages, and enjoy working independently. You’ll rely on your initiative and strong work ethic to organise your days and most importantly, plan the stimulating activities for you and the kids!
- 7.20am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with a couple hours break over lunch
- Every other Saturday, with the following Monday off to compensate
Nanny Housekeeper Duties:
The preferred nanny housekeeper for this family of four will be the type to have a hold on the situation at all times. Read: eyes in the back of your head! That being said, you can take a small breather, knowing the older children will be at school during the day.
Your day will start at 7.20am and finish at 6pm, with a couple of hours break in the middle of the day whilst Mr Two naps. Although it would be preferable if you could on occasion be a little flexible with finish times if the parents have to work late.
During the day, your primary duties will be to keep Mr 2 amused and engaged. Age appropriate activities and games that stimulate his growth and development will keep you both busy. You’ll ensure he’s well cared for, and most of all – that he’s happy! Well, as best you can really, given two-year olds and their emotions are a little on the unpredictable side!
Once the older children are home, you’ll help with homework and offer healthy snacks. They’d also love it if you joined them for a game of football in the garden.
It would be beneficial if you could help with occasional school drop offs and pick-ups (so you’ll need to be a confident driver).
Every other Saturday, you’ll join the family and assist with the children’s activities. Although to compensate you giving up your Saturday (which the family greatly appreciate) you’ll enjoy having the following Monday off.
You’ll also be required to assist with preparing children’s meals, running small errands, keeping the children’s rooms and play areas tidy, and some light housekeeping work like laundry, ironing and cleaning. Although as always, the main focus will be the children and ensuring they’re happy!
This family would love to connect with a nanny who’s keen on becoming a contributing component to their strong family unit. Plus, travel ready? They’re keen for you to travel with them. Win!
Live In Accommodation:
A separate annexe within the family home will be made available for the nanny. Although the annexe does not enjoy a separate entrance, the nanny’s living quarters is located on the opposite end of the house to that of the family’s main living and sleeping areas.
- Must be a driver
- Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel
- An up to date paediatric first aid certificate
- A recognised childcare qualification
- Minimum at least 2 years experience
- Enhanced DBS certificate
