Part time nanny for family of young boys in Delamare Forest , Cheshire
Happy Nest are seeking an early years nanny to provide sole-charge care for two young boys. With mum and dad running a successful business, you’ll be providing nanny care for two boys aged 4 years and 16 months, 3 days a week Monday , Tuesday and Thursday .
With a toddler, and a 4 year old on your hands, you’ll no doubt be busy! But don’t stress too much, your inner calm will keep things running smoothly throughout the day. It’ll also ensure you juggle everything thrown at you. So long as it’s not the discarded peas from Mr 16-months’ dinner plate!
You’ll be well positioned for this role if you’ve got several years experience as a nanny caring for pre-school aged children in the family home.
Which means you’ll be familiar with juggling two different ages, at very different stages of their exploration and development. And you’ll also be independent minded, needing very little direction.
A driver is a requirement for this role, as further into the role you’ll need to drop Mr 4 at school in the morning and collect him in the afternoon.
8am to 5pm 3 days a week
- Meal preparation, including healthy snacks
- Support with homework, reading, and writing
- Child-related housekeeping duties
- Taking the eldest to after school activities when available
- All nursery duties
Housekeeping Duties : Only when mum and dad are home from work around 4pm and the family are keen to express that looking after the children in a kind and nurturing way is the main priority with the role.
- Vacuum and keep the areas clean and tidy
- Family laundry , including ironing and putting away clothes
- Food prep
From the get go each morning; you’ll be busy with the breakfast routine first thing. There’ll be Weetabix to clean from the floor, and snacks to arrange for the day.
You’ll then set the schedule for the day as Mr 4 is currently being homeschooled due to the pandemic with regular zoom call at 9am 11am & 1pm , before exploring the world with Mr 16-months alongside. Everything is new to him at this stage of life, so remember to slow down a little, and let him appreciate the birds in the sky and the flowers along the footpaths.
Mr 16 months is on a good sleep routine. So, whilst you’ve got the flexibility to go out and about during the day – there’s a bunch of different toddler classes and groups available for him to socialize with other toddlers when they reopen – you’ll need to be mindful of his routine and naps which are usually in the morning .
You’ll prepare nutritious and healthy meals for little people from scratch using fresh ingredients. Whilst you’re at it, if you can do your best to smuggle in as many veggies as possible, then this role is perfect for you.
We know that with an 16-month old about to launch himself into full on toddler mode , it might prove tricky to keep the house in tip top shape. So rest assured, only child-related housekeeping duties apply here during the day however the family will be home at usually around 4pm to take over and spend time with the children allocating time for an for some housekeeping if required , the family already have a cleaner.
Once the afternoons roll around and the zoom lessons are complete it’s time to have fun. You are on the doorstep to the wonderful Delamere Forest so there is a whole world to explore with walks through the woods , collecting leaves and twigs to make collages. Both boys love Lego and cars so lots of imaginative play.
The family also have a very friendly golden retriever so you will need to be happy around dogs.
As an experienced nanny, you’ll be able to help with homework. Most importantly, you’ll be familiar with the various techniques to support school aged children as they learn to read and write. Mr 4 is very diligent with his school work and really loves to read so you’ll encourage this alongside him.
Do you pride yourself on tapping into your emotional intelligence to anticipate mum’s needs and to understand what needs to be done?
Are you ready to hit the ground running each morning as you walk through the door, usually being met with half-dressed little people and a mum who’s trying to keep the toddler’s breakfast-covered fingers from staining her work clothes?
Can you keep a daily log of the happenings, should the daily handover gets cut short?
You’ll also benefit from the Company Private healthcare scheme as an extra incentive to this role .
- A recognised childcare qualification
- An up to date paediatric first aid certificate
- Minimum at least 4 years experience in a similar role
- Enhanced DBS certificate ( Happy Nest can help with renewals)
