Part-Time Nanny Housekeeper (With Montessori Experience) For Family With Two Lively Young Children in Barnes, London.
Happy Nest Nanny Agency are seeking an experienced nanny with an interest in alternative approaches to education (such as Montessori and Steiner) who also has some foundational knowledge of the EYFS system. This is a part-time role, predominantly requiring you to play and stimulate creative learning, with a side of light housekeeping during school hours.
These two children – Miss 5 and Mr 3.5 (almost 4) – are lively little children. They love talking and really enjoy being challenged by new things. They’re open-minded and keen to explore everything new!
They like anything creative, especially if you’re talking about science experiments (woah!) and also writing. So it’s only natural they seek a similarly minded nanny housekeeper. Perhaps with an interest in languages, parlez vous Francais? And with the added knowledge of either Montessori and/or EYFS learning.
This a permanent, part-time role, working 6 hours Monday to Friday from 1.15 pm to 7.15 pm. Whilst the children are at school, you’ll take care of some light housework before leaving to collect the children from school. From there your afternoons will be busy with all the child-related activities and aspects, before getting starting on the evening dinner and bedtime routine.
- Monday to Friday; 1.15 pm to 7.15 pm
Approximately 30 hours per week.
- Collect from school each afternoon
- Offer healthy snacks to graze on throughout the afternoon
- Take the children to their afterschool activities
- Support with reading and homework
- Follow the dinner, bath, and bedtime routine
- Keep shared family areas, and children’s play areas clean and tidy after use
The ideal nanny will have a strong understanding of the EYFS framework, and know-how to facilitate stimulating and engaging activities to promote positive learning outcomes. Both Miss 5 and Mr-almost-4 have very curious minds and strive when being challenged. So naturally, a nanny with Montessori, Steiner, or Waldorf experience will really excel in this environment.
Brb, trawling #montessoriathome on Insta for allll the activity inspo! I mean, let the children play! #playislearning
As an aside, how good’s your language skills? As an added bonus, this family would love if you have some level of either French or Arabic. But it’s not essential. And if this role interests you, we strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t speak another language! All applications will be reviewed regardless of additional languages.
It’s no surprise here that your position as the nanny housekeeper will have an integral role in the growth and development of these curious and brilliant little beings. You’ll get along great and come to share a lovely bond. The three of you will love your afternoons together, and approach each new day with the opportunity to get busy learning, creating, and observing.
Naturally, you’ll find that under your careful guidance, these two will reach their full potential. And as they trust you and look to you to build them up, empowered to take on anything and everything, you’ll represent the constant reassurance that the sky is the limit!
Each afternoon you’ll collect the children from school at about 3.15 pm. And let us tell you, you’re in luck. Because talk about location! Both children go to the same school which is roughly 200m from the front door. So no driving is required, as you can literally be at the school gates in a hop, skip, and jump.
How good is that! You’ll find it makes it super easy, and so achievable, to transition from housekeeping to school pick up and nanny duties. And whilst this family are thinking of upsizing their family home in the next few months, they’ll still be living within walking distance to the school.
Together you’ll spend your afternoons doing fun activities together and helping with homework and other school activities. On days when the children do have other activities, your cab fare will be covered by the family.
The children eat really well, although slowly. And they prefer to graze on healthy snacks throughout the afternoon. They love chicken pasta, cucumber with hummus, and the occasional pizza. Yum!
Dinner should probably start to happen about 5ish, before bundling them into baths and getting started on bedtime. Preferably you’ll have the children in bed, or ready for bed, by 7.15 pm when the parents arrive home.
The children speak mostly English at home, with the occasional French or Arabic word thrown in at times.

This role doesn’t require you to to cook for the parents, and it’s certainly not expected of you. But if you wanted to, and were able to, then it would be very much appreciated as a nice little bonus.
And whilst you won’t need to do a huge regular grocery shop. But if you had time to pick up anything you might need for the children’s dinner (if it’s missing from the fridge or pantry for example) would be appreciated.
